Christmas cookies warm so sweet
Pumpkin, apple, pies to eat
Tempting, tasty, foods abound
When family’s gather all around

They come for love from near and far
Laughter and tears, for lost years
Presents Santa did not bring
That made you cry, stomp your feet

Christmas past, Christmas present
Thoughts of love for those not here
With memories of holidays long past
Filled with love, joy and tears

At end of day, content and full,
We hug and kiss then say goodnight
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Hope to see you next year

I an who I am

August 31, 2015

I am who I am

I am not the most beautiful, not the thinnest.
I am uncouth, risqué, sometimes crude
I wasn’t the best mother, I played it by ear
I was too young, but full of love
I tired, failed, tried again

I wasn’t the best dancer
I entertained, had fun,
I am no longer young on the outside
I am still young on the inside

I am still leaning, still trying
I love and I am loved
I am me not you, only me

Love me and I will love you

Dearest Mother Nature

Dearest Mother Nature,

We want to thank you for the snow this year, you have really done a bang up job. But we have one concern. Location. It seems that you are tired of hauling all the snow across the country.  We understand, we really do.  Millions of years of putting that fluffy white stuff around the planet.

Thank you.

But, the Pacific Northwest seems to have been a little ignored.  The North East of the American continent has received more than their fair share of snow.  Our skiers and snow boarders are feeling a little left out.   Our beautiful mountain ranges haven’t received much snow this year.

New England is thinking about building igloos, they also worry about polar bear relocation.  Did you drop enough snow to accommodate the bear’s needs? Then of course will there be thick enough ice for the penguins that are headed north?

It would be very nice if you could let us know if some of the humans should move to Middle America, buy up enough land for when the climate change occurs.  Will that be this century or next?

I do believe there are a couple other areas that would really appreciate at least half that snow on their mountains, Texas, California, I am sure there are more.

I want to thank you for the bluest skies you ever see in Seattle. It really is a beautiful day.

missing Grandma

This morning as I washed the bakelite kitchen utensils that were my grandmothers.. I started to cry. I still miss my grandma, I use her old utensils to cook with.  It is like holding my grandma's hand when I cook..

When I die

When I die
I don't want false tears.
If you loved me, be happy I was in your life.
Laugh, cry if you need too and hug everyone.
Remember that part of me will always be with you.
Wear happy colors, don't be somber.
If you didn't like me, don't pretend you did.
If you are happy I am gone, remember, you're next.
Plant a tree with me, apple, cedar, pine, or cherry.
When my tree is big, climb me, swing from my branches.
When my tree bears fruit, eat me, I promise juicy flavor.
If I loved  you, that love lives in you, now pass it on.
Think of the good times, I hope you have at least one.
Love never dies it surrounds you.
Laugh about all those silly things I did, now do some of your own.

I love you

Mom

We can reverse our rape and pillage of the earth.. we can stop over populating the planet...  all human interaction good and bad has been done over and over through history.  We should live a good life as if there is a god and as if this is all there is and all there will be.  We need to treat each other as if we were all blind and could only hear and feel.... We need to stop blaming each other, and stop blaming the past. We need to fix the now and future by working together..  Right now we can only fix our own countries, we all need to take care of our own problems and issues before we have the right to fix anyone else.

Deal with it

Immature at 66, hell yes
Don't like it, fuck you
I am tired of not being me
I am not sorry for being a little risque
Deal with it
Tired of being put down
So damn tired of being told what I should be doing
Exhausted by those who think I should be what I am not
Deal with it
Love me?
This is what you get
Don't love me

Bye

What If

What if?
If could happen
Not today
But !
Maybe tomorrow

Wouldn’t it be fun
Have you ever thought
You could live in a castle
Just for a month
Maybe a summer

Dreams are okay
Dreams are fun
Dreams are dreams
That keep you sane

What if I had done that
And not done that
What if I choose this
And didn't chose that

What if
Wouldn’t it be fun
Dreams are okay
They keep you sane

Not True

Abandoned  forgotten
Not true not so

Lost and solitary
So true, mine alone

Unloved hated
Not true not so

Feelings emotions
So true, mine alone

Deserted  forsaken
Not true not so

Empty inside, vacuous
So true, mine alone

Feelings no rhyme no reason
A state of being mine alone

Tub surrounds and how to clean them

How to clean you bath surround, before the soap scum becomes a problem. Specially if you are getting brand spanking new tile or one piece surrounds in your bathrooms.
My hubby's uncle was a union man spent most of his working life, after his deployment in the south pacific in WWII, he installed tile and linoleum he was very, very good at what he did. This is what he told me.

How to keep the tile clean, turn off shower, ta da, do NOT step out of shower, do NOT  dry yourself off first.. if you do, you are too late.
First;  use a squeegee on tile, window, shower doors if you have them.
Second;  follow up with a towel, wipe it all down..
Third;  you can now exit from the shower.

What I have found is by the time I am done wiping it all down my body is almost dry, my hair, not so much, time to towel it.

If you make, on pain of death, no food, or icy wakeup calls, to all family members  your cleaning and scrubbing tile will be less often and less painful for your back.  From one who knows that this works, I have seldom had to use cleaners on my bathroom tile.

Hoppy bunny, poppy bunny, running from crows

Daylight savings time

Spring forward
Fall back
Heck of thing to do
We don't lose it,
They just move it,

On clocks built with glue

  Mother nature is oblivious
To the winds of time
Sun sets, moon rise

The earth spins

All on natures time

So worry not the hands on the clock
Close your eyes and dream
When  you wake clock or not

Days will still remain

Say thank you to Ben Franklin this was his idea

Your child grew up and is Gay

Love makes the world go round.

Whom your child loves isn't the issue, the issue is that they are loved at all, that your child can give love and receive it, is a blessing. Stop dwelling on the sex, that isn't any of your business even if your child is heterosexual. You aren't invited into their bedroom, only into the life and family of your child.. Your adult child. Be happy for them. Do not throw your gay children away, they are the same children you loved and raised. just accept and love, that is part of being a parent.

Proud parent of 3 adult children, one of whom is gay.

Christmas music and tears

Ice on the windows, frost on the air
Christmas music to bring tears
Missing those I love , gone a long time past

Those who  held  me when  I cried
Remembering  their love held tight inside
Alone  to pass  on a life time of love

 The smell of baking bread
Cinnamon rolls no nuts inside
For a little girl at her grandma's  side

Grandpa  watching TV in black and white
That dark haired child  putting pin curls in his hair
"Is that good grandpa, see how pretty"

 Rides in the wheel barrow
Climbing the apple trees
Getting eggs with grandma

Being loved when mom was not around
Grandma's perfect little girl
Waltzing  with grandpa  singing  along

A different time, a little house, a different era
My happiest time of life as a child

Babies and Stairs

Do you have a new baby? I have a suggestion from a experienced mom, now grandma tip for you that really works. Babies and stairs are a dangerous thing. But if you teach a almost but not quite crawling baby how to go down stairs safely you will have one less worry.  Gates are great, keeping doors shut if you have them good. But what if the gate or door is not secure?  They you get boom, scream and tears.

As your baby gets close to the up on all fours, the "I am moving stage", take the babe to the stairwell, put baby on tummy, feet facing steps.  Mom or dad then sits a couple steps down, gently pull baby's feet down one step, let the little person know to stay and not turn to sit.  Continue on down until you get to the bottom.  Start again.  Then you can let them go up the stairs with you coming  up behind them. I bet you are saying to yourself, I will never forget to shut the gate or door, I am a diligent mom..  Ah but someone else may forget or not check.
We have 13 steps to our lower level, steps that end on a linoleum (old)  covered cement floor hard and unforgiving.  While caring for my first grandchild I used this method to keep her safe, good thing too grandpa didn't always remember to shut the door at the top of the stairs.  When I would go downstairs I took her with me, walking ahead of her as she came down, just in case.

One evening I went looking for Merissa, couldn't find her, she was close to a year old, I called down the stairs, "is Merissa down there with you?" Yes was the answer. OK safe sound and it was the first time she did it on her own.  The next time I was ready, she was crawling down the hall and through the kitchen, I grabbed the camera, I had it running when she got to the top of the steps. With a big smile she backed down one step, looked at me and lifted her toes up, and slide half way down, stopped laughed and lifted her toes again and slide (carpeted stairs) the rest of the way.  Now if only I could get this video on the computer from the old super 8 camera you could see this.  It was a little scary to see her sliding not just backing down the steps. But basically that is what I had been doing when I taught her how to do it, only it was one step at a time not 6 at a time, that was her idea.    The ending to this, she never got hurt going down the stairs of our home..

Then there was the day she shut the door while she was on the stairs, I came in to see little fingers wiggling under the door, I looked through the window, told her to move down, and watched while she backed down far enough for me to open the door.  The door opens into the stairwell.   I had a exterior door installed with a large window so I could see the stairs before opening the door that way you didn't open the door on someone's face.  Comes in handy for pets too.

Do Over

I want a do over
Begin again
I want to be loved
Have fun

A sense of humor like mine

Droll, ironic, risqué
Downright dirty

Practical impractical
Wishful hopeful
Dreamer dancer poet

Wild imagination
Stories that live only in mind
That make me cry, laugh, desire

Things I imagine doing,
Too shy to try
To stand in the rain, admire the stars
My heart is open to one who can see
Thrill at the wind in the trees

Can you see me?
